Examination of presence and location of the accessory mental foramen, and its implications on the mental nerve block

Objectives: It is clinically essential to know the location of accessory mental foramen in nerve anesthesia. The aim this study was determine frequency and examining its morphometric properties. Methods: A total 35 adult mandibles unknown age, gender, ethnicity were examined. presence mandible investigated bilaterally. In cases with foramen, localization, number, distance relative evaluated. Results: Eleven (15.71%) foramens detected (70 sides) Six (54.55%) on left side, 5 (45.45%) right side. Conclusion: Knowing localization will make block more effective facilitate surgical procedures. should be kept mind that considered where applications are insufficient.
